Upon recent perusal of my old YouTube account, I came upon this psychotic gem I created in 2008 about the film Hounddog, which has thus far accumulated 154 comments and over 180,000 views.
As a sexual abuse victim myself, I was horrified by the inclusion of a rape scene with 11 year old Dakota Fanning (especially in a crappy movie that in no way warranted such a scene). I had already been doing a series of weird, off-key songs over movie trailers, and Nirvana’s “Rape Me” instantly came to mind. I decided to sing it like a child to really drive the point home that this movie was capitalizing both on Fanning’s notoriety and the sensationalism of the film’s subject matter.
What I have found, in reviewing the varied comments (apparently I am both a talented genius and a cunt who should die in various graphic fashions) and from the hits brought to the page by the keyword “rape”…. is that almost everyone on YouTube is a nutcase, and more videos like mine should be made to help police locate and restrain them.
